This site was created to connect people who have extra room in their homes with those who need to evacuate from theirs. This site is also filled with free links to sites (all free) that save you hundreds of dollars.
Too often families stay in harms way during a natural disaster because of the thought of staying in a shelter is not a good option. Families with pets are the number one at risk group because of the rules set by the public shelters. Nobody wants to leave any member of the family behind during these times.
Now, with your help they don't have to. The vision of this site is to create a network for those families who live in a area that is most likely to have to evacuate. For example: Residents of FLORIDA, ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI, LOUISIANA and TEXAS, all face the threat of hurricanes. Along with hurricanes comes the evacuation. When you have arranged for a place to go, the stress is limited to just preparing your home. Moving in from the coast 10 miles could mean the difference between life of death. Even if you live along the coast you can help others when the forecast has someone else's town in harms way.
OUR TIME OF NEED is strictly a volunteer site. There is no money exchanged between those who need help, or those who offer it. This site is to help families keep there loved ones safe during a storm. The main goal of this site is to give FEMA time to react when natural disasters strike.
So.... If you have an extra room in your home that could help please sign up. If you have a fenced in back yard that could keep dogs, please sign up. If you live in a area where hurricanes are a yearly event...SIGN UP!!
